MY STORY

Laura Nguyen is an Asian American actor from Lansing, MI. Growing up, she has always loved the arts and her best friend encouraged her to join theatre in seventh grade. From there, she fell in love with telling stories on the stage and decided to further study theatre in college. She earned her AFA from Lansing Community College before transferring to Western Michigan University where she will be receiving her BFA in Acting.
As a student, Laura has worked on numerous college productions as well as working a bit in the professional world of regional theatre. Some of her works include playing lead Press Secretary Jean in POTUS (WMU), Romeo and Juliet, and one of the lead lottery roles in Everybody (LCC), and Death of a Salesman with two time Tony Award Nominee Lewis J. Stadlen (Flint Repertory). As for film, Laura is just getting started- She was an extra on Kyle Misak’s Bad Haircut and starred in a short film called The Quiet World.
In her work, Laura is passionate about underrepresented voices and stories on the stage. As she has learned more about the industry, she has found that even though she is a part of the most diverse generation, she also found that there were not a lot of stories with characters who looked like her. Therefore, she wants to contribute to growing representation in the industry for people who do not see their stories on the stage.
In her free time, Laura loves to go play laser tag and hammock with a good script. She also crochets stuffed animals and loves a fabulous beach trip.
Laura is so excited to graduate from WMU this summer and to see what the world has to offer. The senior acting showcase is set to launch late spring of this year. Follow her on social media to see what she’s doing next!
